I have been interested in diet, health and how the body works since childhood. Having used complementary therapies to improve my health, I realised the invaluable truth that we all have the ability to live with vitality if we seek and find the right tools.

When I took up yoga in my early 20’s I recognized an incredible power within me, power that we all inherently posses, and that it can be harnessed for our personal growth and well-being. After completing my training as a Nutritional Therapist, I set up ‘Keola Nutritional Therapy’ and immediately began seeing clients. I now work in the Robin Hill Clinic with a diverse team of therapists to help clients realise their health potential. I am a member of Nutritional Therapists of Ireland (NTOI) and the British Association of Applied Nutrition and Nutritional Therapy (BANT).

How Nutrition is linked to Weight Management

It may seem obvious that what we consume plays a pivotal role in how we feel, but there are often times that we don’t make the connection. Do I have a headache because I’m tired? Perhaps I need to drink more water or could it have been the cheese sandwich I ate for lunch? Most of the time we don’t even think about it and just take a painkiller. When it comes to weight management, food tends to be the first thing that we think of when we want to lose or gain it, but making the right choices isn’t always easy. Everywhere we look there is advice about what we should and shouldn’t eat, so what advice is best to follow?

Nutritional Therapy is a holistic way of solving this problem. Nutritional Therapists are trained to listen to your unique history because we all have very distinctive dietary needs. Weight loss may not always be as simple as cutting calories and exercising more, so the Nutritional Therapist will look deeper and deal with the underlying factors that could be causing you to gain or lose weight. Some of these factors may be hormonal imbalances (insulin resistance / Syndrome X), thyroid dysfunction, blood sugar imbalances, physical and/or emotional stress, food allergies and intolerances, nutritional excesses or deficiencies and so on. Finding and dealing with these factors is an integral part of healing the body and bringing it back to balance.
