Deirdre set up her first clinic in1997, practising Acupuncture Homoeopathy and Chinese Herbal medicine. Hugely enterprising she set up The Robin Hill Clinic in 2005 and in 2006 set up The Cork Natural Fertility Clinic the first and only multi-disciplinary Fertility Clinic in the country. Patients travel from far and wide to realize their dream of becoming parents and to date there are many babies born because of Deirdre and her team of highly skilled therapists who tend to their patients with a totally empathetic, sincere, selfless and caring manner. Robin Hill has received many accolades over the years and was nominated as one of Corks Friendliest businesses!
Originally qualifying as a nurse, Deirdre worked in A&E, hospice care, medicine and general surgery. She then spent 2 years with GOAL in Africa working in a leper colony in a slum area outside Khartoum and also in Darfour with victims of famine and war. In Africa she first came across complementary methods of healing.
Following this time Deirdre has studied many areas of holistic and complementary medicine including: Reflexology, Acupuncture, Aromatherapy, Massage, Reiki, Ear Candling, Tuina, Chinese Herbal Medicine and Homoeopathy. She has also gained valuable experience studying pharmacology and anatomy & physiology whilst working in the pharmaceutical industry for 9 years. Altogether she has spent 32 years in the caring profession. Having studied in China, London, Cork, Dublin, India and Sri Lanka. Deirdre is totally dedicated to healing the sick and infirmed.
In Nov 1997 Deirdre made her debut on Irish Television launching "Homoeopuncture" onto the Irish market. Homoeopuncture is the marriage of acupuncture and homoeopathy. Sterile acupuncture needles are soaked in sterile water impregnated with the homoeopathic remedy. These are inserted into the acupuncture points. This has profound results for example in conditions such as frozen shoulder and tennis elbow. Deirdre has had many papers published and has done many radio interviews.
Robin Hill Clinic is set in a very special Victorian building and is a true haven of healing and relaxation. Robin Hill has 2 accommodation options where people can hide away from life and have luxurious extremely affordable SPA, beauty treatments or start a journey of healing.
Deirdre devised a multi faceted approach to chronic illness utilising a multi discip;inary treatment approach and is proving with time, to be extremely effective in alleviating and indeed "curing" many long-term inveterate conditions. The clinic houses more than 18 practitioners of various disciplines and it has an excellent reputation.
2012 saw Deirdre researched and developed The Homoeopathic Breast Cream, which she hopes to expand on a larger scale in the near future.
This year so far in 2013, Deirdre has lauched a three month programme for couples embarking on the journey to parenthood with The Pre conception Care clinic.
After studying Physical Therapy for 3 years in Dublin with the Institute of Physical Therapy, I have taken up a position here as a Physical Therpaist in the Robin Hill Clinic.
My aim is to deliver a high standard of Physical Therapy services to my clients. I intend to play a prime role in their rehabilation, in preventation of injury, and to promote health, wellness and fitness. I have taken up a career as a Physical Therapist as I feel I have a caring and sensitive disposition and an interest in helping others through holistic methods rather than medical methods. I help the body to heal itself.
Prior to studying Physical Therapy, I was, and currently still am, working in the fitness industry. I have a Diploma in Leisure Management and over the last 12 years I have worked in many fitness clubs in Leinster. Currently I am working with Aura Leisure, in Youghal. Some of my hobbies include: mountain biking, surfing, orienteering and running.
Before moving to Robin Hill Clinic, I worked in a practice in Kildare ‘’Clane Body Care Clinic’. I have moved to Cork recently and am delighted to join the Robin Hill Clinic team.
Susan O’Leary has 24 years experience in the pharmaceutical industry. In 2004 she relocated to Cork. Having experienced the benefits of Colonic Hydrotherapy herself, she decided to train as a colonic hydro therapist. Susan has worked in many clinics throughout Ireland and draws of her vast experience to deliver a personalised and professional service, including Colonic Hydrotherapy and nutritional advice. Susan loves her job and enthused by the feedback that has and continues to be fantastic. Tracy works as a Phychotherapist / Counsellor, previously in a GP practice and has extensive experience in her own current private practice. Her approach is humanistic, client centered and holistic. I am one of only a few therapists in Ireland and the UK to have trained in the USA with world renowned Master Hypnotist and Trainer, Calvin D Banyan. I have been certified by Mr Banyan in 5 PATH Advanced Transformational Hypnosis and as a teacher of 7th Path Self-Hypnosis.
I came to alternative therapies and hypnosis in particular as a result of suffering very badly from arthritis in the mid 1980s. I had extreme pain, difficulty in walking and was facing the possibility that this could last forever. My consultant confirmed as much saying that it was probably here to stay. Added to that there were lots of blood tests and though I didn't have any obvious fear of needles, nevertheless I fainted nearly every time I had one.
Looking back at that time, all I can remember were questions about diet; how much alcohol I was consuming; did I smoke? Never, I repeat NEVER, did anyone ask how I was doing in my life; how I was faring emotionally; if there could be anything going on in my life psychologically. Looking back now I'm truly amazed at how mechanical and tunnel-visioned the whole process was.
I focus mainly on therapies dealing with our subconscious such as Hypnotherapy, NLP and Time Line Therapy, though I also offer sessions and teaching for Access Consciousness Bars.
I offer sessions in smoking cessation, fertility and painless childbirth, removal of fears and phobias especially around needles and dentists, and other general hypnosis work.
